E4D Compass™ Combines Intraoral Scanning with i-CAT & i-CAT Precise 3-D Imaging for True Restoratively Directed Implant Therapy

i-CAT 3D Cone Beam plus E4D Compass CAD CAM - complete implant solution D4D Technologies, an award-winning manufacturer of dental CAD CAM systems, announced the introduction of its new implant planning solution, E4D Compass, which integrates 3-D data from i-CAT® systems with E4D scan data to provide dental professionals a comprehensive and interactive view of the complete oral environment prior to implant placement.

Leading the way with restorative-based implant therapy, E4D Compass can aid in the design of the ideal restorative plan and then on the same system import DICOM data from i-CAT® cone beam systems to reveal the underlying 3-D structures for ideal implant positioning.

“The ability to do this at the chair is great for patient education and treatment plan acceptance, since it demonstrates the individual patient’s real data instead of using stock images or demonstration models. said Dr. Gary Severance, VP of Marketing and Clinical Affairs for D4D Technologies.

“It is exciting to work with the E4D Dentist System to combine two incredible technologies into one powerful solution. By combining the surface data from E4D with the underlying anatomy from the cone beam 3-D scan, doctors now have access to the full picture for complete implant and restorative treatment planning. One of the best aspects of the E4D Compass system is how easy it is to use and the fact that the entire plan can be created chairside with the patient in a matter of minutes,” said Mark Hillebrandt, Director of Marketing at Imaging Sciences International.

E4D Compass is available exclusively through Henry Schein Dental and is compatible with E4D Dentist systems running DentaLogic 2.0 and i-CAT and i-CAT Precise.

Check out the new E4D Compass integration LIVE at the American Dental Association Annual Session this week in the Henry Schein Booth #1026!

The Whole Story

The 5th International Congress on 3D Dental Imaging is entitled “3D in Practice.” Perhaps a more descriptive name would be, “Everything you want to know about CBCT imaging but were afraid to ask,” because this year’s expanded conference covers 18 separate topics and segments geared for all professionals—from those who are just starting to explore the technology to those skilled in its clinical use. The Congress promises some talk, and a lot of action. Clinicians can witness live scans, participate in hands-on training, interact with speakers and their colleagues, and even learn about marketing strategies to spread the word about their imaging method that improves diagnostics and patient care.

Congress speakers keep everyone involved and engaged. On Day 1, Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist, Dr. David Hatcher is the host of “Name that Lesion: What you can see in the 3D!” He will discuss the value of 3D cone beam scans that can show pathologic lesions and different types of cysts in relation to critical anatomical structures. For occasions when 2D imaging methods keep you guessing, 3D tells the whole story.

While the best reward is the knowledge gained from the speakers and peers at the Congress, doctors also get 16 CE credits. They return home with such big smiles on their faces, that we have to give them something to prove to the office staff that some serious learning was going on at the conference!

Check out the full agenda and come learn with us!

A Party that Truly Inspir3D!

The i-CAT team sure knows how to welcome a new member to the family! The launch party for i-CAT® Precise™ at Cuba Libre kept everyone’s feet moving to the Latin beat! Our 85 guests were treated to the music of Brazil—dancers pranced, danced, and “ay, ay, ayed,” their way through the crowd with costumes adorned with royal blue and teal feathers and beads (matching the i-CAT Precise logo!). The dancers inspired the crowd with mamba, samba, and salsa rhythms, enticing our doctors and Team i-CAT to get up on the dance floor and get in step! After getting a taste of Brazilian dancing, guests had complementary cocktails and experienced the delicious Latin flavors of ceviche, plantains, cheese, and olive platters and a dinner of salad and paella.

Doctors were invited to leave their business cards to win a free kindle at our booth (#536) at AAOMS, where the i-CAT Precise and demo of new implant and restoration software will get them “inspir3D” in a different way. The party, which was supposed to run from 5:30 to 8:30, finally slowed down at 9:30. If the restaurant didn’t close at 10:00, we still might have been there the next morning! Comment heard from the crowd: “Those i-CAT people sure know how to throw a party!” The event was everything we expected and more—flowing with fun, food, and great conversations, an exciting way to launch an exciting new product.

Até a próxima vez! (That’s “until next time” in Portuguese!)

Continuing Education Helps Clinicians Help Their Patients

Cone Beam 3-D imaging has brought diagnostic and treatment advantages to the orthodontic practice. Evaluation and planning of orthodontic treatment with the aid of these 3D scans is easier and more evident, resulting from the additional information regarding underlying bone structure, as well as the complete dentition and other structures. 3D Cone Beam scans offer lateral and frontal cephs, SMV, orthogonal images and views of the airway, TMJ complex, sinuses, supernumeraries, and impactions. Besides diagnostics, the information can also be used to produce digital study models and CAD/CAM appliance applications. Orthodontist Dr. John Graham noted the ability to manipulate and view 3D images from any angle as “an incredibly powerful tool in treatment planning and evaluation.”

All of these benefits can be obtained while still achieving ALARA principles. This precise imaging method “provides tremendous diagnostic imaging while also maintaining a relatively low ionizing radiation delivery,” says Dr. Graham, adding that the i-CAT’s Quick Scan 4.8 second scan option provides a “wonderful diagnostic fidelity,” that enables him to “provide my patients with a very low radiation dose, probably lower than I was providing them with my traditional pan and cephalometric techniques, while gaining tremendous diagnostic advantages.”

Dr. Graham believes that participating in CE courses on topics such as 3-D imaging can help clinicians maintain high standards of patient care. At the Live 3-D Dentistry Forum, sponsored by the 3D Imaging Institute, on July 29-30 in Anaheim, California, Dr. Graham will explain how CBCT technology can help orthodontists to become better diagnosticians and communicators, while improving patient flow and treatment. He will enlighten attendees on enhanced diagnosis, shortened treatment times and the discovery of pathology that would not have been visible with 2D, as well as the relative radiation risks of 3D vs. 2D imaging and how to share that information with referring doctors and potential patients.

Please see our Live Events page for information on this and other events. And here’s an interesting and informative case report by Dr. Graham.

NEWS: i-CAT Puts Clinicians In Control With Quick Scan

i-CAT Puts Clinicians In Control With Quick Scan

Imaging Sciences International is pleased to offer Quick Scan, the lowest available dose 3D scan of the full dentition. Quick Scan is one of many proprietary tools that allow general dentists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, and other specialists to maximize the clinical information they need while maintaining the ability to control radiation exposure to the patient.

Orthodontist Dr. Juan Carlos-Quintero notes, “The capacity for control of the radiation exposure, and in particular, Quick Scan, was a primary reason for my choosing the i-CAT. Being able to have this ability is better for my patients.” This highly useful proprietary tool is one in a long list of features that sets i-CAT apart from other imaging products.
